Wine tastings and tours of the estate
Visitors are welcomed to arrange formal tours of the estate by asking at the Reception. Three tours are available, with or without tastings (wines, oil, grappa), led by our sommelier and wine writer, Emily.
Guests of the apartments, can have a visit of the cellars and the historic buildings free of charge..
Emily is an Italian wine afficianado. In 2014 she left her position as Head Sommelier at London’s River Cafe to teach the WSET wine qualifications in Tuscany and to continue to write on Italian wine for “Decanter” magazine.
Emily is now based at La Torre Alle Tolfe helping with wine tours and tastings and teaching the WSET wine certificates.
Three tours can be booked with Emily, from a simple tasting (four wines, oil and grappa) to a complete tour, including vineyards and the historic buildings, with local delicacies to taste alongside the wines. These range from €15 to 35 per person (minimum party numbers required).
We can also organise delivery of any products bought back to a central point in Siena – and of course export to home countries.

Trekking and cycling
For the more adventurous, La Torre alle Tolfe offers a great starting point for cycling routes; the Chianti roads, the dirt tracks ( also known as “Strade Bianche”) or the trails through the Le Tolfe woods offer something for all cycling styles!
For those who are more competitive ( or those who like to support the competitive ones) , La Strada delle Tolfe, is also one of the highlights of the “Strade Bianche” race held every year in March. The “Eroica” is a historical cyclist event held in October , and attracts a similar level of worldwide interest .
Finally, for those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, the historical “Francigena” route offers an array of paths which make great day outings.
Cultural tours to Siena and Florence
The culture do we, certainly not missing. A few steps from Siena, and 50km from Florence, can certainly not miss the cultural trips immersed between history and tradition.
Events, fairs and the Palio of Siena
The Palio di Siena is run every year, on the 2nd of July and the 16th of August. It is certainly an opportunity to live one of the most beautiful manifestations of our territory.
In addition to this, many fairs and special events are organized, both gastronomic and cultural.
There is only the embarrassment of choice….
